Last year I had the pleasure of photographing Katherine & Corey’s
engagement session. They captured our hearts and asked us to be apart
of their special day and we couldn’t have been happier to.
On June 17, 2017 they became Mr. & Mrs. Thompson
they had a beautiful ceremony at First United Methodist Church
with their closest friends and family surrounding them with love and support.
A while back we asked Corey what was a few things he loved most about Katie and his answer was “I love
her smile, and her confidence. I love that she is great with kids and very creative. I also love that she’s
usually very patient with me.” Also, in return we asked Katie the same question her response was “I love
how laid back he is and his ability to always be calm. He’s very patient and caring. I love that we are
opposite in many ways and he definitely balances me out”.
They like to cook together, watch movies, and play with their dog, Ella.
There was a funny story they told us a while back that really makes the two of them perfect for one another.
Katie shared with us. . .
“We went skydiving together in April 2014 which was our first real adventure together. I’ve told him he’s
lucky we went together then because it’s not happening again. We also went to a drag queen show together
a few months before we were officially dating. This was the first time he told me about his family and our
return trip was the first time he experienced my driving which was a really fun time for the both of us.”
Their day was filled with a Lavender and Gray color palette along with a gorgeous lace necked gown
and lace shoes with gorgeous earring’s. * what girl doesn’t love accessories? * LOL.
If you hadn’t heard their proposal story it was absolutely something out of a movie!
Katie shared with us their story of how their love began . . .
” He proposed in Mattoon (where I was born and my parents grew up). Every year they put on a light show
during the holidays in the park where you can drive through and see the light displays. We went through
the light show with my parents and drove back around to the beginning to take pictures in front of the
Peterson House (a historical building in the park). My parents were across the street to take our picture
and after they took the first one, he got down on his knee and asked me to marry him. Which was followed
by crying and me saying, “Yes!” “
Isn’t that the sweetest? I am so lucky to be apart of their big day and I’d like to share some of my favorite images.
Willow tree’s are one of my absolute favorite for portraits!
We shot their bride & groom portraits at Lincoln Park in Springfield, IL.
Thanks to this lovely creative team that helped pull all the details together !
